Serre Chevalier is to be found in the Guisane valley, in the French southern Alps just 12km from the Italian border. It consists of 3 main villages and the fortified town of Briançon. It’s a ski resort with many hidden treasures : its 250km of varied pistes means it’s ideal for all levels of skier. 45km of cross country skiing pistes and signposted snowshoe tracks.
Monetier les Bains has a hot bath complex, Les Grands Bains, which is the ideal way to end a day of skiing.
Serre Chevalier is also a great destination in summer. The ski lifts are open taking you up the mountain for hiking, mountain biking, dining in one of the restaurants with a view, visiting the marmotte observatory, etc.
The old town of Briançon (UNESCO world heritage site) is definately worth a visit with its small cobbled streets, its gargouilles, its fountains... You can participate in a guided tour to visit the Cordeliers Church (15th century), the “Fort des Têtes” fortress (18-19th century) or the Notre Dame Collegiate Church, Saint Nicolas (18th century).
Other activities : swimming pool, fishing, mountaineering, climbing, paragliding, cycling up the famous mountain passes...
